Can you find a new lens onto a familiar person, including yourself?

At hybrid/MONSTER we are looking for non-traditional portraits. These can be photographs, drawings, paintings, multimedia, music, anything that explores a side of yourself you don’t normally express.

Photographs are preferred, since it is the most challenging way to record difference, but we are open to convincing.

Think Diane Arbus. Think more than meets the eye. Think unusual. Think creepy. Think bizarre. Think laugh-worthy. Think outside the box.

Have you documented your own transformation? Shape-shifting? Transfiguration?

We accept self-portraits or portraits someone else made of you. This is about an exploration of your identity, a self-study.

Who or what does your alter ego look like? Has someone ever captured your little-known sides?

The key is SHOW don’t TELL.

What do you look like when you are sad, angry, frustrated, uncomfortable, whimsical, silly, ridiculous, ugly? How do your familiar faces change?

Faces, bodies are the focus, but if you have a story that goes with your image we will not say no. Keep it brief, pare it down to its minimum. Let your images speak for themselves.

How have you always wanted to see yourself differently? Have someone ever captured you looking like more than who you usually are?

We challenge you to step outside your comfort zones. Thoughtful, shocking, intense, jaw-dropping images that make people go, *hmmmm*, *wow*, *woah*, *gasp*, *sigh*.

How many different “you”s can you find? Can you allow someone else to capture a different you?

We also accept submission of quotes from songs, films, poems, books that discuss issues of identity, hybridness, monstrousness, freakishness, integrating our many faces into a whole.
